This Life is a Test

This life is a test.

If a person told you to kill as a proof of loyalty, would you do it?

Would it make a difference if the person was incredibly powerful? What if he was all powerful?

What if the command was to kill a child?

Would you do it?

What if you were promised a great reward for killing the child? What if it was your own child?

Would you kill a child then?

Would you do it?

What if you were created, put here by a powerful being to work out if you got the chops to do the right thing no matter what the threat or reward?

What if the powerful being took a step back? Let his creation run and watched to see if beings in his creation tried to tell others how to live their lives and what to eat, drink and wear?

What if he was watching to see what people would do if they were told to kill a child…. by a voice in their head?

What if the test is to see who’s actually good deep down inside? Maybe you are supposed to be willing to sacrifice your salvation for the life of a child to pass the test…

What if the test is to weed out those that think and reason from those that obey without question?

What if the creator is deciding which of his creations are capable of being let out of the simulation, maybe only those with an internal morality unwilling to kill on command for no reason other than obedience aren’t the kind of thinking beings allowed out into the real universe.

Is it courage to kill a child for a great reward or terrible punishment?

Or is it cowardice?

What if this life is a test?

What if Abraham failed it?

Did you hear about this thing? Some really Christian guy in Montana took his kid on a camping trip and he was all like “We’re gonna do the best worship up on this mountain, kid.” And the kid was like, “I love Jesus, let’s do it!” So anyway they get up on the mountain and the guy is like “Jesus actually wants me to kill you, and Jesus knows best” and he ties the kid up. Here’s the fucked up part. The kid is all like “Yeah dad, Jesus knows best, let’s do this.” Homie pulls out a gun and fires it at the kid. Misfire breaks the dude’s gun and his kid is okay so they’re on a cross-country preaching tour now telling everybody about it and how awesome Jesus is. I mean, that’s pretty fucked up, right?

As Christopher Hitchens said, “If I was told to gut my kid to prove my love of God, I would say ‘No, fuck you.'”

Excellent Questions. If you read about biblical stories(with out referencing the bible) in todays news you would call most of those involved either crazy or fanaticals.Put those same stories in some book and call that book divine and cannonize said book and all of a sudden those same crazy people are inspired righteous and great leaders for God.So I ask who is really the crazy misguided ones.Cheers
